Yesterday I…

Got up at 5.

Walked our foster dog.

Got kids ready for school.

Worked the required 8 hours. Continue reading

Loosing My Purse Was The Best. Thing. Ever…. a lesson in finances

my purse is GONE?!?!?!

my purse is GONE?!?!?!

It was a beautiful Saturday, the first day of my week long vacation. Ten days of no working bliss that was kicking off with a casual cowboy style wedding that evening. Excited to be off, getting work done around the house, it was noon when I discovered the terrible truth. My purse was gone. Continue reading

New Year’s Resolutions – pt 1: how did 2012 fare?

hmmm... what will my resolutions be this year???

hmmm… what will my resolutions be this year???

Everyone seems to diss New Year’s Resolutions saying, “You make them to break them.”  Perhaps not everyone but there’s a hell of a lot of jokes by January 3rd asking folks if you’ve broken your resolutions yet.

Instead of following the path of naysayers, I’m a yeah-sayer, believing resolutions are a time to see what worked from the year before and what didn’t. It’s a time to set goals and a time to decide to change things that aren’t working for you. Continue reading

Money Matters Need Open Eyes… resurfacing from tragedy pt 2

Image

ok… i guess it’s time…

When one goes through a dramatic event(s) and needs to check out of the world to heal so they can once again function fully in society, then one really does shut out all parts of reality. Anything that causes any stress or even the slightest of anxiety tremors in their body becomes too much to deal with. At least that is how it was with me. Continue reading

30 Day Money Challenge… tracking cash, day 3

money, oh money… why do you evade me so?

Day 3 is almost done in my tracking of cash challenge and so far so good… but I’ve had a few realizations.

This Saturday is an awesome live show I would LOVE to go to but realistically I can’t. If I do I will have no money for groceries and I need to buy groceries. My fridge is a that uncomfortably empty state. Back in my 20’s I might have opted for the night out and eating bread and peanut butter for a week but back then I didn’t have my most precious gift ever to feed. Continue reading

Dealing with Financial Stress…

dear God, dear Universe... help me through this

I purposely haven’t picked up my mail all week because I had a feeling my power bill would be in there and I didn’t want to deal with the reality of how high it will be. It’s for the first two real months of winter and there was a rate increase as of January 1st. I’d made my budge based on what the people who I bought the house from said they paid and they had big screen TVs and liked a lot of heat. Continue reading

Financial Fix – Grocery Budget – Week 4 Brings Some Success

lemons are yummy.

It’s another week in the land of grocery budget cutting and I am not even sure what week it is. I think it’s week four because I missed a week of meal planning, so it’s my third week of meal planning. Originally this was a four week experiment to see if it could help but since I went sans meal plan one week I’m going to extend the experiment for another week. Continue reading

Financial Fix – Grocery Budget… part 2

that's about all that's left from pay day *sigh*

So… another pay day has arrived… and before the sun has set the money is all gone. After I fix my car, pay talent service fees, pay bills, pay babysitter, buy food, buy gas… there’s just nothing left. My dreams of getting my hair cut are once again postponed for another month and I’m pretending the greys aren’t popping through my roots. (Will a Sharpie cover grey?) Continue reading
